# Ohm's Law Solver mechanism

The inspectable method record for Ohm's Law Solver, kept separate from implementation and qualification.

## Model scope

Core equations are correct for an ideal ohmic DC element, but the empty honest_label is a concern: the product should disclose its domain, unit conventions, passive sign convention, nonzero-division requirements, and branch behavior. The exact ambiguities requiring resolution are signed versus nonnegative quantities, whether P+R returns both mathematical branches or only the positive physical branch, and how indeterminate or division-by-zero cases are reported.

- The formulas are standard for a lumped ohmic DC element under the passive sign convention, but the specification does not state whether V, I, R, and P are signed quantities or restricted to nonnegative magnitudes.

- The claim that P plus one other variable always determines a unique result is ambiguous: P plus R yields two mathematical sign branches for I and V unless nonnegative physical magnitudes are required.

- P=V²/R requires R≠0, and solving other forms by division requires the divisor to be nonzero.

- The scope should say resistive DC loads or ohmic elements; Ohm's law and these power relationships are not universally valid for arbitrary DC circuit elements.

## Units and conventions

- V is measured in volts, I in amperes, R in ohms, and P in watts.

- All equations use coherent SI units; milliamperes must be converted to amperes before calculation.

- P=VI uses the passive sign convention, with positive power representing absorbed power.

- The test vectors assume nonnegative physical magnitudes and an ideal resistive element.

## Failure boundary

**BREAK_CLAIMED** · SELF_FLAGGED

The unrestricted input promise is unsafe at singular combinations such as V=12 V and R=0 ohms, where current and power are undefined. The solver must reject or explicitly flag these inputs instead of forcing a numeric result. A second degeneracy occurs at V=0 and I=0, where resistance is non-unique.
