Weight-Based Dosage Calculator (education) mechanism

The inspectable method record for Weight-Based Dosage Calculator (education), kept separate from implementation and qualification.

Status: VERIFIED_CLEANLifecycle: verified-clean

Model scope

The existing educational-only disclaimer is appropriate, but the phrase "volume to administer" could be mistaken for an administration recommendation. Add an explicit statement that the calculator must not be used to select, prescribe, verify, or administer a dose. Define the concentration unit and volume formula before release.

  • The dose formula is correct only when weight is in kg and dose rate is in mg/kg: dose_mg = dose_rate_mg_per_kg × weight_kg.
  • The stated formula does not define the claimed volume output. Volume requires volume_mL = dose_mg ÷ concentration_mg_per_mL.
  • The input named "concentration" has no specified units; the volume formula is ambiguous unless concentration is explicitly mg/mL, or an equivalent unit conversion is defined.
  • The range formula should explicitly require dose_min_mg_per_kg ≤ dose_max_mg_per_kg.

Units and conventions

  • Weight is provided in kilograms (kg). Any pounds input must be converted before calculation: kg = lb × 0.45359237.
  • Dose rates are provided in milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg).
  • Concentration is assumed to be milligrams per milliliter (mg/mL) for the volume calculations shown.
  • Outputs are dose in milligrams (mg) and volume in milliliters (mL).
  • No clinical rounding rule is specified; expected values below retain the exact arithmetic result.

}

Failure boundary

BREAK_CLAIMED · SELF_FLAGGED

A zero concentration produces an undefined volume through division by zero, so the instrument must reject that input or report undefined rather than emit a numeric result. The specification also leaves concentration units and sign/physical-validity checks insufficiently constrained, allowing materially different interpretations or nonphysical inputs.
